17 Day Diet

I delivered my baby back in 2008, since then the baby weight has not gone, I’ve severe pain in my left knee I tried working out at gym and dieting but nothing seem to work until I saw the TheDoctors show in Jan 2011. This particular episode talked about a diet called the 17 day diet. This diet was working for many people and is recommended by the doctors on the show. At first I was really skeptical but when I started the diet and losing weight I believed.

I would recommend this diet to anyone who is serious about losing some weight and ready to give up their 51 days of life to a healthy eating .Dr. Moreno tells us in an easy-to-read format how to rev up our body’s metabolism in the first 17 days with lean protein, lots of different veggies, low sugar fruits, yogurt, and heart-friendly fats.Drink at least 8 -10 glasses of water .Drinking green tea every day. I really believe that this helped in my weight loss. I lost 10 pounds in the first 17 days of the diet and everything I ate was good, nutritious food. You will see amazing results if you follow it exactly. if you want to purchase the book here

The 17 Day Diet promotes a diet of clean eating, devoid of sugar, processed foods, fried foods, and other unhealthy foods.

Cycle 1 allows an unlimited amount of nonstarchy vegetables and lean protein (including 2 eggs per day, if you have normal cholesterol level), along with limited amounts of fruits, probiotics (such as yogurt), and a little bit of “friendly” fat, such as olive oil or flaxseed oil.

Registered dietitian Melissa Nodvin, MS, RD estimates this plan to be about 1,200 calories per day, or the minimum recommended calorie level.

Here is a sample day’s plan from Cycle 1:
               • Unlimited lean protein
               • Unlimited nonstarchy vegetables

Coffee and Tea are allowed on this diet, but DON’T count towards your 8 glasses of water. ( Can add a pinch of Truvia in coffee, as it’s really sweet)
Exercise: Last but not the least, this diet requires you to do at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday .Take a brisk walk , wii fit ,swimming ,cycling anything you like to be fit.

It's not a diet....... it's a lifestyle

Meal planning ideas

      • 1 apple

Sometimes , I drink green tea twice, this is just an idea of what I eat but you can eat what suits you better like eggs for breakfast . Be sure to drink eight to ten 8 oz glasses of water everyday.
Since I am non-meat eater (lacto-vegetarian ) ,I was looking for non-meat options for protien and the best substitute was the Whey protien powder.
When I started this diet it was difficult for me to find some foods listed in the diet but slowly started finding everything in my local stores.

Here is a list of food choices I made:
Jillian Michaels whey protien powder ( I like the Triple Chocolate Shake ) $10 at Walmart
Salada Green Tea (40 bags) $2.69 at wegmans or any local grocery store
Lifeway Lowfat Kefir probiotic plain unsweetened milk(32 fl oz) $2.99 at Wegmans,Moms organic or traders joes
Truvia Natural Calorie Free Sweetener at Walmart or any local grocery store

Cycle 2 is the same as cycle one except it reduces the fat to one serving
and adds two servings of healthy carbs, pushing the calories to about 1,500 daily
Healthy starches such as legumes, brown rice, bulgar, couscous, corn, squash, and sweet
potatoes are just a few of the options to choose from.
During this phase, you alternate lower-calorie days with slightly higher-calorie days.

Cycle 3 allows for the addition of more healthy food choices to help you achieve good lifetime eating habits. Food lists are expanded to include more healthy fruits, proteins, fats, and starches. The meal plan is basically the same as Cycle Two, except protein is restricted to portions equal to the size of a sponge and an added option for one serving of alcohol and 100-calorie snacks.

Cycle 4 assumes you have met your goal weight. If you were lucky enough to lose all your weight in 51 days, this phase is about maintaining the new you. During the week, follow the guidance from cycle 1,2, or 3 and when the weekend rolls around, let loose.
