International Women’s Day
Today, March 8th is celebrated as Women’s Day all over the world, there’s always a debate as to what is the importance of this day or why we celebrate it .Some celebrate it on big scale with get together, some ignore and others have no clue as to what the day is.
Most of us….the modern educated women celebrate Women’s Day because it makes us feel special.
In my books, It has a message more than just feeling SPECIAL …………………
Wherever women are honored, there is prosperity and happiness. Let’s us be a strength, help& encourage others and spread the message of joy and peace.
A Woman I admire the most …….Mother Teresa , She quotes “What I do you cannot do; but what you do, I cannot do. The needs are great, and none of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.”
Please share your thoughts on Women’s day and also mention your Holi celebrations .

As mentioned in my previous post here are the details and pictures of Read Across America Dr.Seuss Storytime, I am glad I attended the story time at Target, though it was not like any typical library story time.
The target employees, wearing red shirts, were reading Dr.Seuss ‘s books .The reading was not great ,I mean a little boring but kids seem to enjoy these stories. The kids were given a reusable bag with juice box, fruit snacks, crayons, stickers, a yellow felt moustache like Mr.LORAX and coupons to buy books. “Mr.Brown Can Moo,Can You “ is the only Dr.Seuss book I have been reading to Ashrith since he was 15 months old .He loves the sounds made in the book .But today at Target, I had an opportunity to try other Dr.Seuss books on my son who is 3, he listened to Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat ,One Fish,Two Fish.
I was surprised to see how much attention he gave to the story as well as the pictures. He laughed and giggled at the rhyming words. This indeed has been an enjoyable experience.
Two thumbs up for Dr.Seuss Books, they are magical and wonderful tools for kids. Repetition and Rhyming are the mantra to developing reading skills.
So, keep reading to your little ones. READ!READ!READ
Did you attend the Target story time? Pls leave your comments on which Dr.Suess‘s books you read to your kids ?

Dear Friends and Readers, Happy Shivaratri !
Yesterday, we went to take Lord Shiva’s blessings at the Shiva-Vishnu Temple,Lanham,MD.
The Shiva Lingam was beautifully decorated with lots of flowers, sandalpate and rudrakshas.
After performing Archana to Lord Shiva, we noticed that temple has organized for Abhishekam .
Though already performed Abhishekam at home, we were excited to do it at the temple, it reminded us of our childhood days. The Lingam was installed on a beautifully decorated stand and Abhishekam was performed by all the devotees .The Milk for Abhishekam was provided by the temple in a huge silver bowl and I had a small bottle of milk in my hand,I bought it at gas station to give to pujari so that he can use it later but lucky me …who knew I was going to get a chance to do Abhishekam with the milk I bought .
Shiva Linga bathed in milk at home
Note: Follow the newsletters sent by the temple. Lack of knowledge, most of us miss such beautiful celebrations conducted by the temple.
This is the first time I did Abhishekam in a United States temple? Did you ever perform one? When and Which Temple? Please do write your views and mention how you celebrated Shivaratri.
Om Namah Shivaya !!
I just got back from a 2 month vacation , spending quality time with my family ,visiting few places ,eating some wonderful food , timeflies…it was just like yesterday I was shopping and packing to India.
Here are a few highlights from my trip to India Gnana Saraswathi Temple – Basara ,Adilabad Dist ,Andhra Pradesh
Basara temple is one of the very few temples of goddess saraswathi in south india. It is located on the banks of river Godavari . This Temple in Basar is a unique temple of Saraswati, the Hindu Goddess of Knowledge and Learning. Children are brought to the temple for the learning ceremony called as Akshara abyasam. Aksharaabyasam: akshara means “letters” & bhayasam means “practice”… the ceremony of writing first letters. Our trip to basara was for my son Ashrith’s Aksharabhayasam .
Visiting Shirdi was one of the best moments of my vacation. Temple was crowded and took about 4 hrs for darshan but it was all worth it ,seeing shirdi sai so close , my eyes were full of tears, Goosebumps all over …. Totally mesmerized. Grishneshwar Jyothrilinga temple
Grishneshwar, also known as Ghushmeshwar, is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the sacred abodes of Shiva. The temple is located near the famous Ellora Caves.
It was a exciting day of SPEED and lots of fun .
If you live in or around baltimore, don’t miss this thrilling experience .
Tomorrow i.e 4th september is the last day of grand prix ,so all you racing fans this your last chance for a super racing sunday . Caution Note : Don’t forget EAR PLUGS bcos some cars are too loud, especially if you’re taking the kids to the race.
